Search for model OFW family on

CEBU - In its aim to recognize Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is now accepting nominations for the search of 2008 Model Overseas Filipino Worker Family of the Year Award (MOFYA).

In choosing the regional nominees, a certain set of criteria will be followed. One is that a nominee should be any family from Central Visayas with either land-based or sea-based OFW, who must be head of the family and who has a minimum experience of four years in working abroad.

A nominee should have maintained constant communication with his or her family and has active membership in civic organizations or Filipino association.

He or she has at least one family member who is successful in any profession. A nominee must also have shown successful management of family finances.

A regional winner from the land-based sector and another from the sea-based sector will be chosen to represent Central Visayas in the national finals.

“Fabulous prizes await the winners” OWWA stated in its press statement.

The award also serves as a medium to emphasize the success of OFWs and their families in managing the impact of overseas employment on family life and to demonstrate their best practices towards optimizing the gains of migration.
