Man kills himself due to depression

-

A man who was allegedly depressed over family problems hung himself from a tree in the mountain barangay of Usmad, Argao town yesterday.

Bernardo Zamora, 40, was discovered by his relatives hanging from an acacia tree around 5:30 a.m. on the day of hearts.

SPO1 Edwin Miranda of the Argao Police Station said Zamora was depressed because he has been alone for four months since his wife started working as a domestic helper in Brunei, leaving him alone with their two children aged two and four.

Zamora used to work as a laborer in the pier area in Cebu City but quit his job two months ago because he missed his family in Argao.

On the night of February 13, Zamora was allegedly seen drinking heavily.  Not contented, he reportedly even drank a bottle of Efficascent Oil, an embrocade.

After drinking it, Zamora started vomiting.  But while his relatives tried to help him, he ran outside his house taking with him a length of nylon rope.

His relatives kept looking for him until around 1 a.m.

Later, they saw his body hanging from a tree.  No suicide note was found, police said.

“Pirmi man siyang namatikdan sa iyang mga paryente nga magsige og panghinuktok, mura’g magul-anon kaayo,” Miranda said.  Garry B. Lao/BRP
