Cops conduct security dry run in cemeteries

Shiela Mae Agrabio - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) conducted a security dry run and inspection of key cemeteries in Cebu City on Monday, October 26, to ensure public safety and orderly observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2.

The activity started at 8:30 A.M. as police prepared for the expected influx of visitors to cemeteries to pay their respects to departed loved ones.

The inspection covered Calamba Cemetery, Carreta Cemetery, and Queen City Memorial Garden.

Police assessed security arrangements, traffic management and crowd control measures, as well as potential concerns that could affect the peaceful observance of the annual occasion.

During the walkthrough, CCPO director Police Col. Ricky Sumalde reviewed security protocols, personnel deployment and contingency measures, particularly those intended to manage large crowds and traffic congestion.

The dry run also aimed to assess the readiness of police personnel and identify possible problems that could be addressed before cemetery visits peak during the observance.

Sumalde urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement personnel and strictly follow security regulations at checkpoints and police posts during Kalag-Kalag.

The CCPO said the activity was part of its preparations to help ensure a safe, orderly and peaceful observance of the two occasions. — BRP (CEBU NEWS)
