3 hurt in vigilante attacks

Two laborers were wounded after being shot by suspected vigilantes near Gate 3 at Pier 5 around 11:15 p.m. the other night.

The victims were identified as Christopher C. Paras, 19, and Macjomar "Mac-Mac" Redillas, 18, both residents of the place. Paras was hit in his back while Redillas was hit in his left upper arm.

The two assailants, who covered their faces and wore black jackets, immediately fled the area on board a motorcycle.

Reports said the victims were about to go home when one of the assailants fired at them twice. The victims were rushed to the Cebu City Medical Hospital.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old sidewalk vendor was also shot by suspected vigilantes along Balintawak cor. V. Gullas Street around 1:40 a.m. yesterday. The victim was identified as Carlos R. Gamboa, a resident of Tabok- Kanal, Pardo.

Witnesses said Gamboa just came from watching TV at Pacific Tourist Inn when four men shot him. One of his attackers reportedly covered his face with a handkerchief.

The victim, who was hit in the abdomen, was immediately brought to the CCMC. - Emerald Dann L. Labay
