Shades of green

Yasunari Ramon Suarez Taguchi - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — A fashion presentation took place in the final week of September focalizing the eco-consciousness of Cebuano designers and homegrown fast-fashion brands.

Titled “Shades of Green,” and held at the Activity Center of the Ayala Center Cebu, the ramp show mainly featured pieces that were strewn by various shades of green – each presented next to pieces that were tempered by the color’s natural complement, brown.

Showcased were fineries that bore zen-inspired elements, putting forward the beauty of minimalism and the intricate balance it rivets with a personal sense of style.

From Hanz Coquilla’s organic inlay-themed pieces to Bree Esplanada’s sleek-lined ensembles, the show illustrated how lines and parallels are elements that are not commonly encountered in nature – that in the arena of design, an understanding of lines and its affinity with colors and the natural ecosystem strikes the difference between ardently being design-centered and highlighting nature-inspired themes.
