Flor S. YNCLINO - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Marco Polo Plaza Cebu welcomed the New Year with an exciting Culinary Journey: Sugbusong 2013 – Street Food Classics.

Last week, there was feasting at the “Best Buffet in the City” as it offered the finest of Filipino Street Food in five-star setting.

Right on time for the Sinulog, it was one of the hotel’s way of letting their guests experience the rich Cebuano culture and cuisine. And speaking of cuisine, culinary guru and Marco Polo’s consultant Jessica Avila opened her recipe book for use during the week’s culinary journey like: lechon de Cebu, manok inasal and kinilaw to side streed staples suck as squid balls, ballot, boiled peanuts and kwet kwek. This also included local desserts with favorites like ice scramble and ice candy, biko, binignit and puto.

Sugbusog 2013 – Street Food Classics is a unique dining experience for those who truly want to indulge in a feast that is truly Cebuano.

Before Sugbusog was opened, Msgr. Carlito Pono blessed the Sto. Niño icons displayed at the Grand Lobby. After which, Val Sangiego had his dance troupe performed a Sinulog dance number.

For reservations, please call 253-1111 local 8249. You still have two more days to enjoy Sugbusog 2013: Street Food Classics at Café Marco.
