Hack2Hatch comes to Cebu

- Yasunari Ramon Taguchi - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - Primed as a weekend camp for technopreneurs, Hack2Hatch: From Hacker to Founder {h2H} comes as a unique opportunity for Cebu-Based technoprenuer groups, one which can be described as a unique "grad school for start-ups".

Slated to happen this October 5 to 7 at the Radisson Blu Hotel (with its culmination activities to be held in Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa), the event is primarily intent in helping local technopreneurs fine tune their working knowledge on the rudiments and dynamics of their trade, with various activities tailor-cut to accommodate such goals.

Highlighting one-on-one mentorship sessions with some of the world's leading entrepreneurs, the event also stands as a learning avenue where better pitching or presentation of ideas can take place, and also offers its participants the chance to win seed money for furthering their respective businesses' growth.

Organized by the Philippine Development Foundation (PhilDev) and Developers Connect (DevCon) Philippines, operational start-up groups based in Cebu are encouraged to take part in this unique opportunity to gain lessons from {h2H} mentors Winston Damarillo (CEO, Morphlabs and Chairman of the Board, Exist Software Labs), Dado Banatao (Chair of PhilDev & Managing Partner of Tallwood VC), Sheila Lirio Marcelo (Founder and CEO of Care.com) Eric Manlunas (Co-founder and Managing Partner, Siemer Ventures) and Alvin Gendrano (Director, Developer and Platform Group, Microsoft Philipines).

As an event, {h2H} falls in with the operational focus of "Silicon Valley Comes to the Philippines", a mentorship and speaker series which focuses on bringing Filipino innovation and entrepreneurship to the ideals of collective empowerment and economic development.

The event is essentially a kickstarter to PhilDev's 2012 Economic Forum, "PhilDev Economic Forum: Harnessing Filipino Innovation and Entrepreneurship", which will take place at the Manila Peninsula in Makati on October 8.

As Cebu's start-up scene is brimming with superstars-in-the-making, {h2H} comes as a timely marker heralding the prospects and opportunities which await local technopreneurs.
