CEBU, Philippines – The resurgence of the 50s and 60s design trends is definitely God's gift to all stylistas this season as it brings with it a treasure trove of pieces that speak nothing less then class and glam - two things that so many a fashionista has been found wanting. After all, class and glam are really all about donning simple silhouettes and cuts and strategically donning accessories that set apart the babe from the bore.

This fall, the accessory du jour is the cat's eye glasses/sunglasses. After having been featured quite prominently along the runways of Prada and Tommy Hilfiger this season, the cat's eye glass is bound to take stylistas by storm especially that this fierce trend comes in all variations from the subtle, slightly round corner shades to the pointed, unmistakeably cat's eye shape.

Although it may be the purr-fect accessory to date, it's safe to say that rocking the cat's eye frame can be quite tricky as not all styles and variations will look good on just about any face shape. What's more, it takes real glam girl attitude to be able to pull this trend off.

Act cheapy-cheapy and you won't be able to do this piece the justice it deserves.

Variations of the cat eye frame work for different face shapes however. Round, cheeky faces will do best with frames with pointier, sharper edges or large frames that curve upwards to provide a quick break from the face's soft corners.

Rounded-out edges on the other hand, will work best for angular, square and diamond-shaped faces. However, as with all other fashion trends, the safest way to find out if a particular style makes or breaks your look is to simply try them all out until you find the one that will make you feel uber confident.

The beauty about the cat's eye glasses/sunglasses is that although it is a primarily retro piece, it can be very versatile. It can work with ultra modern threads and it will be perfect if you care to be utterly vintage. Be careful though when throwing in the cat's eye frames to a 70s ensemble as, when it comes to the 70s, rounder, softer frames will definitely work best compared to the cat's eye frame.

The trend for spectacles has definitely shown no signs of dying out any time soon. Whether you find yourself wearing glasses out of choice or circumstance, the rule is to rock the kind of specs that will turn heads. This season, it's all about going retro and what better way to begin than with the classic cat's eye frames?

Don't just stick to safe and classic black. Go for frames in neutrals or even those that are embellished in order to make a statement.

Now that's what you call purr-fect.
