Table-top Grilling at Japengo

-

CEBU, Philippines - Creating a striking dining experience, Japengo Modern Japanese Restaurant offers table-top grilling at The Parkmall.

Yakiniku technically, in its broadest sense, refers to grilled meat dishes. It commonly referred to a Japanese style of cooking bite-sized meat, usually beef and vegetables on gridirons or griddles over flame of wood charcoals carbonized by dry distillation. In modern Japanese restaurants today, gas or electric grill is used.

Although popular to the Japanes, Yakiniku were invented by Korean immigrants in the Kansai area after the Second World War. Japanese yakiniku usually differs from authentic Korean dishes such as galbi and bulgogi; while Koreans may use pork or chicken, the Japanese solely use beef.

At Japengo Modern Japanese Restaurant, diners order several types of prepared raw ingredients (either individually or as a set) which are brought to the table. The ingredients are cooked by the diners on a grill set up on the table, several pieces at a time. The ingredients are then dipped in soy sauce mixed with sake, mirin, sugar, garlic, fruit juice and sesame. Sometimes, diners request for garlic-and-shallot or miso-based dips.

To keep the flavorful juices of the meats intact, Japengo chef recommend that meats are turned only once when grilling, after which, it should be dipped in the accompanying sauce to quickly cool. This is a perfect way to enjoy Yakiniku.
