Rhian Ramos reunites with TomCar in intriguing soap

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky Calderon - The Freeman

Rhian Ramos gets to work once more with Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez in “Love of My Life,” the second soap she is doing with the real life sweethearts after “My Destiny” five years ago.

She says the story of “Love of My Life” is more intriguing and gets even more complicated as the days pass by so the actress believes viewers will be hooked in following the story of two young mothers vying for the attention of the same man who happens to be dying.

“Love of My Life” is Rhian’s comeback project for GMA after her series titled “The One That Got Away” two years ago. This new show, directed by Don Michael Perez, will replace “One of the Baes” which ends tonight.

She plays the role of Kelly Generoso, a single mom who is into direct selling. Her son’s dad is the character of Tom who married Carla, also a single mom but her son has a different dad. When Tom found out he has pancreatic cancer, she called Carla and introduced her to his mom, Coney Reyes.

This causes a big conflict because Coney asks her and her son to stay in the same house with Carla and her son. So the two women in Tom’s life end up in an unusual set up to sharing the same roof, vying for his attention, and getting into each other’s nerves.

The fourth Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) will be back this September 11-17 where audiences can experience a week-long celebration of Philippine Cinema at FDCP’s (Film Development Council of the Philippines) annual flagship program featuring quality films with captivating storylines, set to premiere in theaters nationwide.

This national industry event in partnership with cinemas provides an exclusive platform for filmmakers and producers, giving particular focus to independent productions. PPP allows them to showcase their unique stories with the opportunity to reach the widest audience in the country. It also provides an opportunity to showcase quality films with an elevated genre, exhibiting the versatility and ingenuity of Filipino cinema.

“We are truly proud and excited to continue championing Filipino films and encouraging Filipino filmmakers to be competitive players in the industry through the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino. In the past three years, we have raised immense support from our Filipino audience who had shown how eager they are to watch quality films of different genres from stories that are ours,” said FDCP Chairperson Liza Dino.

“With the fourth year and the closing of the 100 Years of Philippine Cinema, PPP will continue to challenge and expand the stories and reach of our films towards a more global perspective. Especially with our next hundred years, we hope that this platform becomes integral in placing Philippine Cinema at the worldwide stage in both technical and creative and storytelling aspects,” she added.

This year’s PPP will conclude Sine Sandaan, the year-long celebration of 100 years of Philippine cinema spearheaded by FDCP that kicked off at last year’s PPP. Under Presidential Proclamation 622, signed November 2018, FDCP was assigned to lead the centennial year celebration of Philippine cinema, held from Sept. 2019 to Sept. 2020.
