Skies cleared up for Slater Young-Kryz Uy wedding

Karla Rule - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — “Pinoy Big Brother: Unlimited” Big Winner Slater Young and lifestyle vlogger Kryz Uy couldn’t have chosen a more romantic time to get married.

After a year of engagement following Slater’s mid-stroll proposal in February last year during a trip to wintry Japan, the Cebuano couple became husband and wife last Saturday at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa.

In an interview with The Freeman during a styling session with Forever21 last June, Kryz hinted that they were going to steer away from the traditional princess bride weddings, saying that the crystals and ball gowns just wasn’t their style.

“Slater’s personality and my personality – we’re very simple, very chill people. We don’t really like so much attention, you know?” the online personality told The Freeman. “We just want to keep the whole thing very relaxed and very us. The people who are coming know us and they might get confused when they come in and see that everything is so grand, knowing us and our personality.”

Indeed, the garden wedding resembled the couple’s laid-back personalities, at the same time flaunting their eye for detail and style: from the invitations, to the bouquet, the double-curtained walkway, rustic floral arch, the bloom wedding cake, personalized giveaway cookies with their gorgeous New Zealand pre-nup photos printed on the confectionery, to the lovely photos.

Slater and Kryz exchanged “I do’s” in Francis Libiran creations – a dapper navy blue tux for the dashing architect groom, and an intricate, plunging gown for the glowing bride. The groomsmen were dressed to the nines, while the bridesmaids donned periwinkle dresses by Elizabeth Hallie.

It had been raining in Cebu two days before D-day, and so the clear skies on Saturday was an answered prayer for the couple.

The #youngandkryzzzie affair was a lush gathering of garden tones, flowy dresses and fresh looks from fly-in guests and Cebuano friends and family. Spotted at the wedding were actor Sam Milby, Cornerstone Entertainment head Erickson Raymundo and bloggers Tricia Gosingtian, Camille Co, Laureen Uy, Patricia Prieto, sisters Vern and Verniece Enciso, Lissa Kahayon and Nicole Anderson.

Partying inside their twinkling reception filled with fairy lights that looked like stars, Mr. and Mrs. Young were pretty and playful alongside their loved ones.

Coming from large Filipino-Chinese families, Kryz admitted that a lot of things had to be put into consideration for the ceremony. But all that’s done and over with, with much help from event planner Snoogie Reynes-Mata.

The two are now enjoying some down time together post-wedding. On her Instagram handle, Kryz promised to share more details about the wedding once she’s recovered, while Slater is still in bliss.

Working on their future home for a while now, the Youngs are surely up for a great adventure as they face the rest of their lives together.

Ah, to be young and crazy in love. Cheers to the newlyweds!
