Trade-ins and installments used to push premium gadgets in Cebu
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu’s appetite for premium consumer technology is getting a fresh test as Apple Authorized Reseller Digimap rolls out the iPhone 18 Pro, targeting buyers willing to spend more on sophisticated devices, backed by trade-in incentives and flexible payment options.
The launch points to an opportunity for premium electronics retailers in Cebu, where consumers are increasingly exposed to advanced digital products and have more options to spread out the cost of upgrading their devices.
The extent of that purchasing power, however, will depend on consumers’ willingness to commit to higher-priced smartphones amid household budget pressures.
Digimap marked the launch with simultaneous midnight celebrations on Oct. 15–16 at One Ayala in Makati, Ayala Malls Vermosa in Cavite and Ayala Center Cebu, bringing together Apple enthusiasts.
The events featured exclusive launch offers and promotional freebies as the retailer sought to turn interest in Apple’s latest devices into sales.
“The launch of the iPhone 18 Pro is an exciting moment for the Apple community, and we wanted to make this milestone truly memorable for our customers across the country,” said Laine Vallar, country marketing head of Digimap Philippines.
Through its launch promotions and personalized retail experience, the company aims to make upgrading more accessible to Filipino consumers, she said.
A key component of Digimap’s strategy is DigiTrade, its trade-in program, which offers savings of up to P82,900 and additional trade-in incentives of as much as P11,000. Qualified customers can also access installment plans of up to 36 months, subject to terms and conditions.
The program allows customers to offset part of the purchase price by exchanging eligible existing devices, while installment arrangements reduce the immediate cash outlay required to acquire a premium smartphone.
For retailers, these options can help broaden the market for higher-end devices by appealing to consumers who want better technology without paying the full amount upfront. They also provide an avenue to encourage existing Apple users to upgrade rather than postpone purchases.
In Cebu, where premium retail destinations serve consumers across the metropolitan area and neighboring provinces, the launch reflects the commercial opportunity in combining product sophistication with purchasing flexibility.
Digimap operates stores at Ayala Center Cebu, Ayala Central Bloc, Robinsons Fuente, Il Corso and Mactan Newton, giving it access to shoppers across key commercial and residential districts.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max became available nationwide through Digimap’s retail channels on Oct. 16, 2026.
Since entering the Philippine market in March 2023, Digimap has expanded its presence through physical stores and online channels, offering Apple products alongside personalized service and flexible payment arrangements.
The retailer operates under Mapple Philippines Inc., part of MAP Group Asia, which is associated with Indonesian lifestyle retailer Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk.
For Cebu’s consumer market, the launch highlights how premium electronics retailers are competing not only on access to the latest devices but also on the overall purchasing experience, including trade-in values, financing options and in-store engagement. — (FREEMAN)
