CEBU, Philippines - China-based technology provider and cellular phone maker, Huawei Technologies Philippines, Inc., aims at increasing its market share in the mobile gadget market in the Philippines.

Although the brand has only entered the Philippine market last year, Charles Wu, the company's country head expressed confidence that Filipinos will be able to love the Huawei brand because of its quality and affordability.

Based on IDC, Huawei is the third top mobile brand in the world, closely competing with Apple and Samsung.

In the Philippines though, Huawei still has to make its brand easily accessible to the market, thus the opening of concept stores around the country.

Last week, Huawei opened its fifth concept store in the country at the SM City Cebu-Cyberzone.

Wu said the Philippines is one of the fastest growing markets for Huawei in Asia, and is considered as the company's top emerging market because of its huge potential for growth.

He said Filipinos penchant for technology advancement, and mobile gadget savviness, will drive Huawei's strong brand penetration to the growing consumer-base.

"The Philippines is an ideal market for us, The fast economic growth and Filipinos' love for technology," he said will make the brand climb up as one of the preferred top choices of Filipino mobile users.

While Huawei brand is known as the leading Information and communication technology provider in China, and other countries in Europe, with its diverse products in technology, in the Philippines the company will push more on promoting its device products.

At present, Huawei is partnering with over a hundred dealers around the country. So far, Wu said the sales had been encouraging.

Huawei devices offer a wide array of mobile units priced from as low as P2,000 to P20,000. In terms of quality, he said the company "never compromise," the reason why the brand achieved as the third preferred mobile brand in the world.

Huawei is present in 180 countries, including the Philippines, with 160 overseas offices and maintaining 150 thousand employees.  (FREEMAN)
