Cone taps Japeth, Mason

MANILA, Philippines — Coach Tim Cone has tapped veteran Japeth Aguilar and young gun Mason Amos as alternates on his Gilas Pilipinas program.

“Japeth and Mason will practice and travel with the original 12 and be ready to step in if the need arises,” said Cone, looking to avert a manpower shortage like when the Nationals played with only 10 men in the previous window due to injuries.

“If we lose one of our bigs, Japeth will step in. If any of the others, Mason will fill the hole,” said Cone.
