Suzuki launches all-new Ertiga

MANILA, Philippines — Last Wednesday, Suzuki Philippines (SPH) unveiled the all-new version of its popular MPV, the Suzuki Ertiga, during a large press conference held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City. Attendance was 600-strong and included members of the motoring media, Suzuki dealers, its bank partners, and also some Club Ertiga guests.

Also present during the grand reveal was SPH President Hiroshi Suzuki and SPH Director & Automobile Division Grand Manager, Keiichi Suzuki, who shared during his speech that “With the increasingly diversified demands of the local auto industry and needs of end users, we cannot be complacent when we’ve done well and stop innovating. We want to make sure that our customers get more than they deserve, which is why we decided to further improve the best-selling Ertiga.”

SPH President Hiroshi Suzuki delivers his welcome remarks during the launch of the all-new Suzuki Ertiga.

The Ertiga has been Suzuki’s bestselling vehicle in the Philippines; and this explains why it was such an important occasion for the Japanese carmaker.

The latest Ertiga comes packed with a slew of new technological innovations, which include Total Effective Control Technology (TECT), which reduces and mitigates the chances of injury to the car’s occupants by scattering the energy from the impact across the vehicle’s frame in the event of a collision. Meanwhile, this new frame—a rigid structure based on Suzuki’s new generation platform: the HEARTECT—is especially efficient in dispersing impact energy through the structure of the Ertiga’s hood, front windscreen wiper area, front bumper and other surrounding parts. Consequently, the vehicle’s noise and vibration levels are also reduced.

“All the upgrades in the new Ertiga are designed to give Filipino riders the confidence to enjoy every adventure knowing they and their family are safe and comfortable,” remarked Keiichi Suzuki during the reveal. “Beyond making technological improvements on our vehicles, our goal is to always ensure that our customers have an optimum driving experience,” he added.

The latest rendition of this 7-seat MPV features greater passenger legroom (an increased tandem distance of the third-row seats) alongside more generous headroom and the ability to recline and tilt the seats down (up to 16 degrees) in the third row. A rear AC vent is now in place for the benefit of second- and third-row passengers; and the vehicle is now laced with practical, smart storage spaces that are especially useful for traveling families and large groups. These include a ventilated cup holder, a coin holder and a yet-improved center console and side door pockets.

The new Ertiga is powered by a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine mated with either a 4-speed AT or a 5-speed MT. It comes in seven colors: Pearl Glorious Brown, Metallic Magma Gray, Pearl Burgundy Red, Prime Cool Black, Metallic Silky Silver, Pearl Radiant Red, and Pearl Snow White.

Prices start at P728,000 for the GA MT; P848,000 for the GL MT; P888,000 for the GL AT; and P978,000 for the range-topping GLX.
