Portable tracking device for vehicles now available in the market

MANILA, Philippines - Would you want to know where your vehicle is located and its situation on a real-time basis? There is now a new portable tracking device out in the market designed to help monitor and track vehicles’ location and condition, an essential gadget that would help provide an additional layer of protection for vehicle owners and also for their loved ones, the usual passengers of the vehicle.

Called “Free Road Tracking System,” the device is, according to Jhon Cuevas, Shop Manager of Gold Cars and main distribution hub for the Free Road Tracking System, primarily designed for the security of families, those who own high-value vehicles and other important clients as well.

“We are looking at families’ security as the primary reason why this device exists, for families with children, those with their own cars or high-value vehicles that are chauffeur-driven for protection against criminal elements. Of course, businesses where delivery of their products is essential are also the target clients for purposes of monitoring and tracking of their vehicles’ whereabouts and status,” declares Cuevas.

The Free Road Tracking System primarily employs two modes of tracking. The first is via GPS or Global Positioning System, where vehicle monitoring and tracking is done through a dedicated Web site, www.mycargps.net and where the vehicle’s location is determined via longitude and latitude coordinates viewed a la Google Maps.

But if the vehicle is inside a building, a basement or under a covered area where GPS cannot work since GPS signal relies on a direct outdoor link to a satellite, the SMS (Short Message Service) through the globally-accepted Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) feature can then take over. With SMS, vehicle monitoring and tracking is done via “text” messages sent directly to the device through a regular mobile phone registered onto the device’s memory – and to which the device responds as well in certain situations.

Aside from sending out vehicle monitoring and tracking alerts, the device also carries an “SOS” or emergency feature where, at the push of a button, an SOS in the form of a text message is sent to the master phone. In fact, even during abnormal or irregular movements, vehicle crashes, too much swerving, abnormal door openings like if your car was broken into, or unauthorized starting of the engine, can cause the device to send an SMS alert. Also, there is a “Trace” feature that comes in handy where the vehicle’s movement history can be traced via the dedicated Web site (www.mycargps.net).

With these features, vehicle monitoring and tracking is superbly and accurately accomplished in real time.

At present, the Free Road Tracking System is available initially at the Gold Cars outlet and very soon in major telecommunications shops to become part of the device’s distribution network.

“Our prime reason in bringing over to the country the Free Road Tracking System is essentially to provide security – and peace of mind – to vehicle owners, especially families for the protection of their loved ones. It is a great feeling to have knowing that the location of the vehicle and the family member inside the vehicle is always known to you on a real-time basis, enough for you to do something in case of emergency. That sense of security is really priceless,” Cuevas emphasized.
