DoubleDragon to open Hotel101 in Boracay

MANILA, Philippines — DoubleDragon Properties Corp. is building  Hotel101 Resort-Boracay, which is touted to become the biggest hotel in the Philippines in terms of room count.

Hotel101 Resort-Boracay will rise on the beachfront of Boracay Newcoast, a 150-hectare tourism estate of Andrew Tan’s Megaworld Corp.

 It will have 1,001 rooms and is committed to support sustainable tourism in Boracay.

DoubleDragon chairman Edgar “Injap” Sia II said the Boracay project is part of the company’s plan to become a major player in the hotel industry.

“This new eco-friendly greenergized hotel project in Boracay puts forward our grand vision to be a major player in the hotel and resorts industry in the country. It will certainly boost DoubleDragon’s recurring revenues through years and will also significantly help generate economic benefits to the people of Boracay as well as contribute to pump-prime further the world-class reputation of the Island and the Philippines as a tourist destination,” Sia said.

DoubleDragon is a property company founded by Sia and Jollibee Group founder and chairman Tony Tan Caktiong.

Hotel101 Resort-Boracay is a joint venture between DoubleDragon’s Hotel101 and Newcoast South Beach Inc. led by its chairman Enrique Gonzalez.

Amenities include room suites with balcony, retail and food and beverage offerings, pool and outdoor deck, a business center, meeting rooms and a function hall.

The project will also adopt sustainable best practices from design to implementation and adopt sustainable practices to reduce and reuse energy, waste and water.

 Megaworld subsidiary Global-Estate Resorts Inc., proponent of the Boracay Newcoast estate,  envisioned the masterplanned property to become the new side of Boracay as it hosts its own commercial, retail and boutique hotel districts, residential condominiums, residential villages, hotels and resorts, surrounded by its own golf course.

“Our group is proud to be working with DoubleDragon to launch the biggest green hotel in the Philippines. Boracay enjoys global popularity and the upgrading of Caticlan airport provides favorable macros.  For his part, Alliance Global Group Inc. executive director Kevin Tan said the new hotel would become a major provider of comfort and convenience for tourists visiting Boracay.

This new green eco-friendly project in Boracay will be the fourth development under Hotel101 brand after similar groundbreaking undertakings in Manila, Taguig and Davao City.
