Honda posts record sales

MANILA, Philippines – Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) recorded its highest annual sales in 2016 behind strong consumer demand for its new vehicle models.

HCPI said yesterday it ended 2016 with total sales of 23,199 units, a 20 percent growth from the previous year’s 19,315 units.

The company likewise posted its best monthly performance in December last year when it sold 2,805 units.

Higher sales for the full year was attributed to the introduction of the All-New BR-V, the All-New Civic and the New City.

The All-New BR-V is Honda’s latest addition to its affordable sport utility vehicle lineup.

Since its Philippine debut in September, HCPI said the All-New BR-V garnered more than 2,000 reservations and sold 717 vehicles.

The New City, however, remained the brand’s best-selling model among its 15 vehicle line-up with 8,913 units sold last year.

HCPI said its participation in significant industry exhibitions such as the 6th Philippine International Motor Show in 2016 also helped increase demand for the brand and further expanded its market reach.

“On behalf of Honda Cars Philippines Inc., we would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to our customers for continuously making the brand their preferred choice. We are pleased by the unwavering support as seen in the 2016 sales milestone. This would not be possible without them,” HCPI president and general manager Toshio Kuwahara said.

HCPI closed the year as the fifth largest automotive player in terms of sales among Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. members with a market share of 6.45 percent.
