MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has extended anew the deadline for the submission of qualification documents for the country’s biggest public-private partnership (PPP) deal, the P171 billion North South Railway Project (South Line).
“In order to give prospective bidders ample time to prepare their respective qualification documents, please be advised that the submission date scheduled on Dec. 1 is moved to Feb. 1, 2016,” said Diosdado Silva, vice-chairman of the Pre-qualification, Bids and Awards Committee and assistant general manager of the Philippine National Railways (PNR).
The DOTC previously set the bid submission date for the project on Oct. 15 but deferred it to December 1, following requests from interested firms.
The bids will have to be submitted to The Columbia Tower in Mandaluyong City.
Qualification documents submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
The deal involves the construction, rehabilitation, extension and operation of the South Line.
The South Line covers commuter railway operations between Tutuban in Manila and Calamba in Laguna, as well as long-haul railway operations between Tutuban and Legazpi in Albay, including extended long-haul rail operations on the branch line between Calamba and Batangas and extension between Legazpi and Matnog in Sorsogon.
