MANILA, Philippines - Annie S. Garcia, president of SM Supermalls was one of the speakers of the recently concluded CSR EXPO 2009. Explaining the kind of corporate social responsibility that SM does, she said that at SM the task of doing CSR projects is not limited to executives but is felt and done by everyone in the SM workforce from the janitor, the security guard, the SM employee to the company executive.
In her speech, Garcia talked about the SM Cares program which is into social, economic and environmental projects aimed at improving the lives of the majority of Filipinos.
Through SM CARES, the needs of the physically challenged, breastfeeding women, the rights of children, women, the elderly and the OFWs are taken care of at SM. SM is also into a lot of relevant environmental projects that promote environmental upkeep.
