Toyota to adopt new corporate strategy

Tokyo – Toyota Motors Corp., the number two global automotive manufacturer, is set to adopt a new corporate strategy that is more socially and environmentally conscious.

According to TMC General Manager for Asia, Oceania and the Middle East Yasuhiro Yomoda, Toyota will veer away from merely selling and getting the number one position in automotive sales to gradually contributing more to society and protecting the environment.

Toyota representatives from Asia, according to Yomoda, will start the ball rolling during a regional meeting this month to suggest various projects that each Toyota subsidiary could help finance.

Toyota would earmark a specific budget for such projects with the prospective amount also to be discussed during the meeting.

Yomoda admitted that capturing more than a 50-percent market share is not actually healthy for Toyota and the automotive industry in general because it would only promote envy.

Toyota, Yomoda explained, wants to be able to give back to its market by financing socially-relevant and environmental projects.
