Trazo to challenge Thai champ for WBC Asia flyweight crown
CEBU, Philippines — Cebuano boxer Joperson Trazo will face a tough test right away in his first international fight.
The Chao Sy Boxing Stable stalwart will challenge Thai champion Thananchai Charunphak for the World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia flyweight title on October 30 at the NKL Boxing Gym in Nonthaburi, Thailand.
The 21-year-old Trazo carries a 9-2-1 win-loss-draw record, including two knockouts, against the Thai veteran’s impressive 32-2 slate, with 16 KOs.
Despite the disparity in their records, Trazo is confident of pulling off a major upset on enemy territory.
Trazo’s coach, Edcel Mike Tonacao, is likewise optimistic about their chances of winning.
Trazo and Tunacao are scheduled to leave for Thailand on October 28, while promoter-manager Lorenzo “Chao” Sy will follow a day later.
