Serving our people together
Today, Wednesday, 13 senators were at the Senate for the special senate session requested by BBM.
Congratulations to Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian and Senate Pro-tempore Tito Sotto and to the other senators who attended today’s important session!
Their seriousness to render public service for our people/our country will go down in history and will be remembered by a grateful nation.
To those who do not deserve to be called senators because of their shameless/belligerent/partisan/self-serving interests, our people and our country do not need you, now or ever.
If you want to continue boycotting the Senate sessions and not report for work, please all resign ASAP to save our precious tax money being spent as salaries/allowances for you/your staff.
These entitled absentees preferred to ignore the call to deliberate/decide on very important issues especially affecting millions of our hungry/poor people, prioritizing those in disaster-affected areas in Mindanao.
May there be laws to penalize them for their absences. May they and their staff be required to pay back all their salaries during the days they did not report for Senate duty. May they be stripped of other perks/privileges reserved for elected public servants.
Ordinary, hardworking Filipinos report early for work, return home late, after rushing to avail of limited public transport so as to be paid their meager salary not even enough for their families’ daily needs.
In stark contrast, the shameless/arrogant absentee senators continue to receive and avail of their hefty salaries and perks so fatally unfair especially for our millions of poor and hungry Filipinos!
Can impeachment proceed with even just 13 senators?
The votes may not be enough to impeach but our people deserve a full public disclosure and presentation of evidence/data for the serious charges versus the just-as-shameless VP that these shameless absentee senators want to protect and defend.
The best gift for our people and our country that the 13 senators present for the special session is sharing is the wonderful lesson of united, genuine public service.
Weren’t officials of Congress and LGUs elected to serve the people, not their own self/family/party agenda?
If the absentee senators want to continue their boycott and ignore their duty to serve our people and our country, then the sooner they are booted out of office the better for our people, our land.
Effective governance reflects united, genuine, selfless service for our people, our country. Let us wait and see if the 13 present senators of the present majority bloc will continue their genuine public service from hereon.
We also hope we can see this united/genuine/selfless public service among the officials of our LGUs, including those for Cebu Province and for Cebu City.
Oh, if only the present LGU officials can reconcile/unite on issues that will genuinely serve the essential needs of our hungry poor!
As example, on the issue of the present continuing waste problem in Cebu City, would it not benefit all in the city if all officials, regardless of party affiliations, can come together, unite on collective action/response for effective waste management?
Doesn’t it appear blatantly partisan for the Cebu City Environment Committee head to deliver a privilege speech and for the City Council to pass a resolution “expressing grave concern over the continued use of SRP for garbage storage and directing the mayor to submit a transition plan within 30 days?”
Isn’t the Cebu City waste problem everyone’s problem, the problem not only of Mayor Archival but of the Environment Committee and the rest of the Cebu City Council?
Rather than leave Mayor Archival 30 days to submit a transition plan, cannot the Environment Committee and the City Council, all unite, TOGETHER, and find/implement effective solution/s for this waste problem affecting the city and the constituents they were elected to serve?
