Mga tren para sa MRT-7 darating ng Pilipinas ngayong linggo mula Korea
MANILA, Philippines — Parating na ngayong linggo ang mga bagong tren na gagamitin para sa itinatayong Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7), pagkukumpirma ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) ngayong araw.
Ayon sa kay Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade, Huwebes, gagamitin ito para sa 22-kilometrong linya na tatakbo mula North Ave. sa Lungsod ng Quezon hanggang San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
"Trains for the Metro Rail Transit 7 (MRT-7) will arrive in the Philippines by the first week of September this year," ani Tugade sa isang paskil sa Facebook kanina.
"These trains, consisting of six train cars (two trainsets), were procured from Hyundai ROTEM Company in South Korea."
Layon ng naturang linya na paiksiin ang biyahe mula Quezon City patungong Bulacan mula dalawa hanggang tatlong oras patungong 35 minuto na lamang.
Ang nasabing linya, na may pinirmahan nang concession agreement na noong 2008 pa, ay magkakaroon ng 14 istasyon at tinatayang makapagserbisyo sa 525,000 to 850,000 pasahero araw-araw.
"MRT-7 construction activities on the guideway and stations as well as the electronic and mechanical works continue amid the pandemic," patuloy pa ng kalihim.
Unang isinumite sa noo'y Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) ang proposal ng MRT-7 noon pang 2001.
Bagama't nagsimula ang groundbreaking nito noong Abril 2016, Agosto noong taong 'yon lang nagsimula ang aktwal na konstruksyon nito.
Pebrero lang nang sabihin ng San Miguel Corp. (SMC) na planong buksan ang MRT-7 pagsapit ng Disyembre 2022.
"The arrival of these brand new, high-quality trains from South Korea, known as one of the world’s best train and rail systems builders, is a welcome development, and I believe holds a lot of significance," ani SMC president Ramon Ang kamakailan.
"At a time when many are feeling uncertain about our country’s future because of the pandemic, this shows that the job of nation-building continues; that the work of improving our infrastructure, boosting our economic growth prospects and investing in our country’s brighter future, also doesn’t stop, especially for us in San Miguel."
Una nang iprinotesta ng mga progresibong grupo ang MRT-7 project noong 2016 dahil sa banta ng pagpapaalis ng mga magsasaka sa Bulacan at komunidad ng mga maralitang lungsod sa Quezon City at Caloocan City. — James Relativo
