Contempt sa Comelec chief – MAGAP
MANILA, Philippines - Hiniling ng Movement Against Graft and Abuse of Power (MAGAP) sa Korte Suprema na i-contempt nito si Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes dahil sa paglabag nito sa umiiral na Precautionary Protection Order (PPO).
Ayon kay MAGAP spokesman Jonas Sinel kasama ang iba pang opisyal nito na sina Alice Lazaga, Joel Abalos at Ricardo Bautista, muling nagsampa ng petisyon ang MAGAP sa SC upang ipa-contempt si Chairman Brillantes sa paglabag sa PPO.
“These four individuals took the effort to file a petition to stop Comelec officials from defying PET’s PPO that in effect insulted the tribunal in a highly-contemptuous manner, moreover directly violating Section 9 of Batas Pambansa 884 that is punishable by contempt,” wika pa ng MAGAP leaders.
Sinabi ni MAGAP spokesman, dapat maalarma ang Presidential Electoral Tribunal (SC) dahil sa patuloy na paglabag ng Comelec ng illegal na ilipat ang 82,930 Precinct Count Optical Scanners (PCOS) machines mula sa orihinal nitong bodega na may configuration facility patungo sa isang undisclosed warehouse sa kabila na umiiral pa rin ang petisyon ni DILG Sec. Mar Roxas kay Vice-President Jejomar Binay kaugnay ng vice-presidential race noong 2010.
“In 2012, the more than 82,300 PCOS machines were purchased by Comelec at the tune of P1.8-billion with intents to use it for succeeding elections, but now the poll body is suspiciously planning to buy new poll machines for P18-billion amid absence of valid reasons why the current PCOS machines have to be discarded,” paliwanag pa ni Sinel.
“Comelec should make a public effort to maintain the 82,000 PCOS machines inside the old warehouse with configuration facility and save P18-billion taxpayers’ from new purchase of voting machines that can be programmed to cheat in 2016 polls,” dagdag pa ng MAGAP.
Hiniling din ng MAGAP sa Korte Suprema na atasan nito si Comelec Chairman Brillantes na ibalik nito ang 82,830 PCOS machines sa orihinal nitong bodega na may configuration facility upang muli itong magamit at maiwasan na bumili pa ng panibagong makina.
