FOI umani ng suporta

MANILA, Philippines - Pinapurihan ni Ifugao Rep. Teddy Brawner Baguilat ang pahayag ni Senator Grace Poe na suportahan sa Senado ang pagpasa ng Freedom of Information bill na malaking ambag sa anti-corruption at good governance campaign ng gobyernong Aquino.

Tulad ng appointment ni Sen. Poe sa Senate committee on information, umaasa si Baguilat na magkaroon din ng parehong kinatawan sa House na mamumuno sa public information committee, kung saan tatalakayin ang FOI bill.

“I leave it up to the wisdom of the Speaker to appoint an equally deserving chair in the House of Representatives. Advocates in both houses of Congress must calibrate efforts to provide peer support in the passage of the FOI bill,” sabi ni Baguilat, na miyembro ng Public Information committee na pinamunuan ni Rep. Ben Evardone noon 15th Congress.

Muling inihain ni Baguilat ang FOI sa 16th Congress para bigyan ng panahon ang mga nagsusulong nito na makapag-imbita ng iba pang mambabatas na magtatanggol sa naturang krusiyal na panukala. 

Gaya ni Poe, itinutulak din ni Baguilat ang isang FOI bill na walang right of reply dahil sa paniwalang makakaapekto ito sa freedom of the press.

“I believe that all those who have been victims of fraud, deception and corruption should support the FOI,” pahayag ni Baguilat na kasapi ng Liberal Party.
