Lions lead Asiabasket cast

MANILA, Philippines — Reigning NCAA kingpin San Beda will lead the Philippine collegiate teams duking it out with foreign opponents in Asiabasket’s NSAC World Invitational slated Aug. 14 to 16.
The Red Lions, along with the Santo Tomas Golden Tigers, the Jose Rizal Heavy Bombers and the Far Eastern U Tamaraws, will carry the fight for the Pinoy varsities against counterparts from the Fighting Eagles Nagoya and Tenri University from Japan, Elite Stacks AUS from Australia, and National Formosa University from Taiwan.
The tournament organized by Asiabasket in partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission and Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas will follow a knockout format with classification games, ensuring each participating team plays three games over the course of the three-day event.
Quarterfinal matches will be held on Aug. 14, followed by the semifinals and classification games the next day before the tournament concludes with the championship and placement matches on the 16th.
