Peralta, Alas-as claim silvers

MANILA, Philippines — Asian Youth Games medalist Jhodie Peralta snared two more silvers while Kirby Alas-as snatched a silver of his own to add to Team Philippines’ growing haul in the IWF World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia yesterday.
Peralta, a silver and bronze winner in the Bahrain AYG last year, claimed silvers in the women’s 53-kilogram’s snatch and total where she had 85kg and 188kg, respectively.
Turkmenistan’s Ogulshat Amanova swept all three mints in that class.
Alas-as, meanwhile, pocketed silver in the men’s 60kg snatch with 113kg.
Their efforts came a day after Team Philippines scooped four golds – three from Alexsandra Ann Diaz and the other from Jay-R Colonia.
Diaz’s impressive sweep was even made sweeter as she set two new world records in clean and jerk and total lift.
Also going for glory are Rhianne Cabalida and Jea Mae Palagtiw in the women’s 69kg and 77kg divisions.
