MNLF men released
MANILA, Philippines - At least 28 members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) who were arrested at a military checkpoint in Marawi City on Tuesday were released on Thursday night “upon the intercession of the Office of the President.”
Emmanuel Fontanilla, MNLF spokesman, said the armed men were in a convoy of four vehicles on their way to Saguiran, Lanao del Norte when they were intercepted in Barangay Matampay.
The soldiers seized a machine gun, assorted rifles, a rocket-propelled grenade launcher and ammunition from the group.
Fontanilla said they coordinated with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process for the release of their men.
