3 slain, 1 hurt in QC shootings

MANILA, Philippines -  Three persons were killed and another was wounded in separate shootings in Quezon City in the past two days.

Ronaldo Aquino, 48, a hog raiser, was shot dead by an unidentified assailant at the corner of BF Road and Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay Holy Spirit at past 5 a.m. yesterday.

Investigation showed that Aquino was standing in front of a drug store when the suspect fired at him.

Police said they recovered empty .45-caliber shells at the scene.

Elmer Lao, 41, was walking in Barangay Batasan Hills with his two relatives when a masked gunman shot him at close range at around 9:30 p.m. on Monday.

Lao’s companions were unhurt.

Lester Von Copta, 18, died when two motorcycle-riding assailants fired at him in front of his house in Barangay Commonwealth.

Copta died at the scene from gunshots to the body.

The assailants fled after the attack.

Jinky Flores, 26, and Jocelyn Chung, 52, were in a car on their way to Manila when two men on a motorcycle opened fire, hitting Flores.

Flores was wounded and taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.
