DepEd hinahasa ang Journalistic skills ng mga mag-aaral

MANILA, Philippines -  Hinahasa ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang journalistic skills ng mga mag-aaral sa bansa.

Ayon kay DepEd Sec. Leonor Briones, pinasimulan na nila kahapon hanggang sa Enero 25 ang pagdaraos ng 2017 National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) sa Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

Sinabi ni Briones, ang host region ng aktibidad ay ang Region IX, kung saan ang Pagadian City at Zamboanga del Sur ang siyang host schools divisions na may temang “Strengthening Freedom of Information through Campus Journalism,”.

“This conference aims to equip and provide students with knowledge, skills and experience in campus journalism and to sustain advocacy on social consciousness and environmental awareness, promote responsible journalism and fair and ethical use of social media, and enhance journalistic competence through healthy and friendly competitions,” ayon kay Briones.

Nabatid na ang NSPC ay binubuo ng mga workshops,  individual at group contests.

Ang individual contests ay kinabibilangan ng Editorial Writing, News Writing, Feature Writing, Sports Writing, Editorial Cartooning, Copyreading and Headline Writing, Photojournalism, at Science and Technology Writing habang ang group contests naman ay kinabibilangan ng Radio Script Writing and Broadcasting Contests, Collaborative Desktop Publishing (CPD) Contest, Online Publishing Contest (exhibition para sa secondary level), TV Script Writing and Broadcasting Contests (para sa secondary level), na kapwa mayroong English at Filipino categories.

Ang naturang aktibidad ay alinsunod sa Republic Act No. 7079 (Campus Journalism Act of 1991), at ng DepEd Memorandum No. 216, s. 2016 o ang 2017 National Schools Press Conference.
