Police thwart bus bombing in Zamboanga City
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Passengers and residents were thrown into panic after a bomb was found in a bus at a transport terminal here Friday night.
Chief Inspector Diomarie Albarico, Tetuan police station commander, said a teenager found a black plastic bag underneath one of the passenger seats while cleaning up the bus that had come from Pagadian City, and promptly alerted the police when he saw wirings and batteries in it.
Members of the police bomb squad responded and detonated the explosive, with the blast heard as far as two kilometers away from the terminal. – Roel Pareño
