6 dead, 3 hurt in road mishaps
TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan, Philippines — Six persons, including three police officers, died in road accidents in Cagayan and Ilocos Sur in the past two days.
Police Officers 1 Ben Jay Keith Pursen, Jesmonde Basiag and Daryll James Galario were declared dead on arrival at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center yesterday.
PO1s John Rey Balong-angey, Winnie Belangui and Charlo Kiat-ong were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Initial investigation showed the patrol car of the personnel of the Police Provincial Mobile Force Company based in Luna, Apayao collided with a 10-wheeler truck driven by Antonio Sumulat, 42, along the highway in Barangay San Lorenzo, Iguig.
In Ilocos Sur, Antonio and Jomar, both surnamed Pamo, and Rudolph Valentino Sistoza were pinned by a truck that hit their car in Barangay Guimod, Bantay at dawn on Friday.
The companion of the fatalities, Wilson Domenden, remained confined at the intensive care unit of a hospital yesterday.
Rescuers said it took several hours before they recovered the bodies of the victims.
