The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Three more drug suspects were shot dead in separate incidents in Isabela, Cagayan and Bacolod on Thursday.

Drug surrenderee Edgar Lising, a watchman in Barangay Burgos, Ramon, Isabela, reportedly tried to hurl a grenade when he sensed he had sold shabu to an undercover agent, prompting the policeman to shoot him.

Rodney Mavilla, 26, was found dead along the road in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City. A piece of cardboard identifying the victim as a drug pusher, carjacker and robber was placed on his body.

Police Officer 1 Michael Alvares of the Taguig police, a native of Rizal, Cagayan, was in an eatery in Barangay Centro 2 in Tuao town when a man on a motorcycle shot him at close range.

Probers are eyeing illegal drugs as the motive for the killing.
