Public safety personnel nabbed in Dipolog City buy-busts

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Authorities arrested retired and active duty public safety personnel in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, the regional police office said Thursday.
Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, spokesperson of Police Regional Office 9, the arrest after intensified anti-drugs operations based on intelligence tips.
Police and personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a buy-bust operation in a lodge in Barangay Central in Dipolog City that led to the arrest of the suspects.
Arrested Tuesday morning were retired firefighter Rolando Legados Mosqueda and SPO1 Gilbert Tolentino James with the provincial intelligence management branch of Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office.
Galvez said hours later the police and PDEA personnel conducted another buy-bust operation at the same lodge and arrested Emmanuel Bastasa Velasco with two companions.
They were later identified as SPO1 Raul Mahometano Maguinsay of the provincial police office and Leopoldo Palomares Dangase, a retired officer of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
FO3 Ramil Legados was arrested in another buy-bust operation at Barangay Santa Isabel, Galvez said.
