Cloudy skies, rains in Luzon, Visayas

Rhodina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will prevail over most parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, and the Visayas until tomorrow.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the rest of the country would experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms.

PAGASA said the weather condition is due to the southwest monsoon, which affects the western section of Luzon and the Visayas.

The state weather agency said southwesterly wind, one of the criteria to declare the onset of the rainy season, would prevail until Friday. However, PAGASA said the rainy season has yet to start.

“Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will be experienced over northern and central Luzon, including Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Metro Manila,” PAGASA said.

Zamboanga peninsula, the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and western part of Northern Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

PAGASA said no tropical cyclone is expected to form or enter the Philippine area of responsibility  until next week.
