Ilocos’ top drug suspect shot dead
CAMP JUAN, Laoag City, Philippines – The top drug suspect in Paoay, Ilocos Norte was gunned down on Wednesday night.
Raymund Weil Pobre, alias Tonton, 35, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.
Pobre was standing in front of his house when an unidentified man who arrived in a black sedan shot him, said Chief Inspector Dexter Corpuz, Ilocos Norte police spokesman.
Seven bullet shells for an M16 rifle were recovered at the scene.
Corpuz said Pobre was ranked eighth on the list of drug personalities in Ilocos Norte.
In Bulacan, the top drug suspect was arrested on Wednesday after his wife reported his illegal activities.
Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat, acting Bulacan police chief, said Rico Manzano was collared in an entrapment operation.
Two sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia were recovered from the suspect. – Ariel Paolo Tejada, Raymund Catindig, Ramon Efren Lazaro
