40 hurt in Cagayan road mishap

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Forty people were injured when their jeepney rolled over in Peñablanca, Cagayan late last week, authorities said yesterday.

Jeepney driver Jacinto Gumabay said the vehicle developed engine trouble as they were traveling in Barangay Manga.

Gumabay said he lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to hit a boulder in Sitio Alitong-tong.

Town police chief Inspector Romar Pacis said the jeepney carried 50 people, some of them seated on the roof.
