Law signed upgrading Cebu hospital

MANILA, Philippines – Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City will have an additional 400 beds.

President Aquino signed Republic Act 10770 on Tuesday increasing the bed capacity of the hospital from 800 to 1,200.

The law mandates the Department of Health to implement the measure while the needed funds to provide additional beds shall be included in the General Appropriations Act.

The measure, which was provided under Senate Bill 2767, was approved by the Senate and adopted by the House of Representatives as an amendment to House Bill 5276 on Jan. 25.
