Ang Ladlad party-list member shot dead
MANILA, Philippines - A member of the Ang Ladlad party-list and a political leader in Abra was killed on Wednesday.
Mercedita Bernoilla Bragas was a leader of La Paz town Mayor JB Bernos, who is running for congressman, and a coordinator of Ang Ladlad in San Juan town.
Police recovered four bullet shells for an M16 rifle at a farm where her body was found.
In a statement, Ang Ladlad called for a swift investigation into the killing.
“The fact that it took the Abra police four hours and 40 minutes to arrive at the crime scene for its initial investigation does not speak well for them. We demand an immediate and swift investigation. Let the chips fall where they may, with the assailants and their masterminds brought before the bar of justice,” the statement read.
