German found in yacht died of heart attack

Ben Serrano - The Philippine Star

BAROBO, Surigao del Sur, Philippines – Police have ruled out foul play in the death of a German, whose body was found in a yacht drifting in the waters here last week.

Manfred Fritz Bajorat had died of a heart attack, the autopsy conducted by the Caraga police showed.

“The cause of death is acute myocardial infarction,” said Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor, Philippine National Police spokesman. “He was estimated to have been dead for more or less seven days.”

Fishermen found Bajorat’s decomposing body.

“Salt water and the air could have mummified his body,” Inspector Mark Navales, Barobo deputy police chief, said.

Documents, pictures of a family visiting Paris landmarks, rice and canned food lay scattered in the cabin, which was listing when Bajorat’s body was found.

Chief Inspector Domindaor Plaza, Barobo police chief, said the German embassy informed them that Bajorat’s daughter is arriving to identify the body, which lies at the Dollente Funeral Parlor here.
