Fish-eating eagle caught in La Union

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Philippines – A five-year-old osprey, also known as a fish-eating eagle, was caught in Barangay Biday here yesterday.

Mayor Pablo Ortega said the eagle would be turned over to the administrators of the La Union Botanical Garden for proper care.

It would later be released back into the wild, Ortega said.

Jason Estrero said the eagle was trapped in a net as it was trying to catch fish in a pond.

Estrero said the eagle suffered injuries so he decided to turn it over to the authorities.
