Mother surrenders escaped Mandaluyong inmate

MANILA, Philippines - One of the 11 inmates who escaped from the Mandaluyong City Jail early this week has been detained again in the facility after his mother surrendered him to the authorities.

The escaped inmate Archie Pacheco, charged with illegal drugs charges, was accompanied by his mother to the Mandaluyong City Police Station on Wednesday night.

Police had staked out Pacheco's house for several days in Caloocan City before he was brought in by his mother.

Earlier, three inmates who also bolted out from the detention facility last July 11 were recaptured by police tracker teams.

Authorities are still hunting down seven other inmates.
