Gun ban violators now at 281 -- PNP
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police on Monday reported that a total of 281 people have been arrested in connection with the Commission on Elections gun ban.
Based on PNP figures, those arrested were six policemen, 246 civilians, six government officials, 22 security guards and one civilian armed auxiliary
The PNP report said police personnel have confiscated a total of 242 firearms since authorities have started implementing the poll gun ban since Jan. 13.
Police also seized four airguns, 65 bladed weapons, 18 grenades and other explosives, and 1,145 ammunition.
Meanwhile, the PNP said the Marikina police nabbed murder suspect, Jose Arevalo, 31, last Jan. 26 , who yielded an improvised handgun and four improvised ammunition. - Dennis Carcamo
