Woman killed, 8 hurt in Batangas tollway mishap

MANILA, Philippines - A woman was killed and eight more were hurt in a head-on collision between a cargo jeepney and a truck along the Star Tollway in Ibaan, Batangas.

Police identified the fatality as Erlinda Corea, one of the passengers of the jeepney. The injured victims have been rushed to the Batangas Regional Hospital.

Initial investigations showed that the 14-wheeler truck with plate number RJK 671 rammed the jeepney while it was overtaking another vehicle along the tollway in Barangay Quilo, Ibaan.

The identities of the other casualties have yet to be released by the police, who were still investigating the incident as of this posting.
