Caloocan starts countdown to 50th year
MANILA, Philippines - The Caloocan City government started yesterday a 250-day countdown to its 50th founding anniversary on Feb. 16 next year, with the unveiling of the local government’s Caloocan@50 logo at the Bonifacio monument in Monumento.
Mayor Enrico Echiverri said the kickoff gained more significance as it coincided with the country’s 113th Independence Day celebration.
Echiverri said that at 50 years, Caloocan City is ripe “to effect changes” and vowed that as Caloocan’s golden year anniversary celebration draws near, they would witness “a new chapter” in the city’s history. Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, described by Echiverri as an “inspiration” in public service and accountability, led the guests in yesterday’s Independence Day celebration in Caloocan.
