Alleged gunsmith nabbed in Pasig

MANILA, Philippines — A man accused of illegally producing firearms was arrested in Pasig City on Thursday.

Michael Garcia, 41, was arrested in an entrapment operation in Christine Village in Barangay Dela Paz, Superintendent Wilson Asueta, who heads the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s National Capital Region office, said in a text message.

Police recovered a 5.56 Baby Armalite with one magazine and seven assorted bullets.

Asueta alleged that the suspect has been involved in illegal activities for several years.

He is facing charges for violating provisions of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
