Fallen soldiers at Libingan remembered

Jaime Laude - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) yesterday lighted candles at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) in remembrance of the fallen heroes.

Despite the rains, soldiers securing the LNMB lighted candles on the graves of the war veterans and soldiers who were killed in  the line of duty.

“Candles were lighted and prayers were offered to each grave of our fallen heroes,” Lt. Col. Ray Tiongson, Army spokesman, said.

Maj. Gen. Restituto Padilla, spokesman for the AFP, said masses were held for departed soldiers at military camps across the country.

On Wednesday, the family of former president Ferdinand Marcos offered mass at his grave at the LNMB.

Tiongson said the Marcoses and around 100 supporters gathered at the late dictator’s grave.
