New Army chief named

MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has named Maj. Gen. Rolando Bautista, former Presidential Security Group commander, as chief of the Philippine Army.
Bautista is replacing Lt. Gen. Glorioso Miranda during today’s turnover rites at the Army headquarters at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig.
Miranda, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1983, will retire four days ahead of his mandatory retirement age of 56 on Oct. 8.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana confirmed Bautista’s designation as Army chief.
