Trike driver gunned down

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A tricycle driver was shot dead by four unidentified assailants in Mandaluyong City over the weekend.

Jade Manuel Domingo, 26, died at the scene from multiple gunshots to the body.

Domingo was not included in the drug watchlist of Barangay Hulo and the city police, according to Eastern Police District director Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula.

“Since Domingo is not a drug suspect, we are conducting a deeper probe to determine the motive for the killing,” Sapitula said.

Initial investigation showed that Domingo was driving his tricycle along a bridge at the boundary of Mandaluyong and Makati when the suspects on two motorcycles blocked his way at around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Witnesses said the back riders of the motorcycles pulled out their handguns and fired at Domingo.

The assailants fled after the attack.

Sapitula ordered Senior Superintendent Joaquin Alva, Mandaluyong police chief, to conduct a background check on Domingo to determine who could harbored a grudge to kill him.
